Novice Open Play is available to all Sun City residents. It is designed for newer players who are learning the game, building confidence, and looking for a fun and supportive environment to play pickleball. Whether you have recently completed a beginner clinic, are returning to the sport after time away, or simply want to play with others at a similar skill level, Novice Open Play is a great place to start.
Players rotate on and off the courts using the paddle rack system, providing opportunities to play with a variety of partners while gaining valuable court experience. The focus is on learning, participation, sportsmanship, and enjoying the game.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, volunteer coaches are available to provide free instruction and guidance. Players can participate in one hour of skills and drills followed by one hour of supervised play, helping bridge the gap between learning skills and applying them during actual games.
No registration is required for Novice Open Play or the free coaching sessions. Simply show up, place your paddle in the rack, and join the fun.
If you are uncertain whether Novice Open Play is the best fit for your current skill level, contact us or visit one of our Open Play All Levels session to learn more about the various playing opportunities available within the SCHH Pickleball Club.
Above all, our goal is to create a positive environment where players can improve their skills, meet new friends, gain confidence, and enjoy the game of pickleball.
Novice Open Play is available 7 days a week.

FORMAT AND RULES
Place paddles in rack to rotate in: Place your paddle at the end of the paddle rack when you’re ready to play. Courts fill in order as players rotate off from left to right. NEXT UP shows which paddles are next.
Four on / four off is standard. After one game to 11 (win by 1), all four players exit and the next four enter. If fewer than four are waiting, you may play again — but rotate new players in whenever possible.
No holding courts for friends. Everyone waits and plays in the order their paddle was stacked.
Be a Good Partner & Opponent:
Play fair. Play fast. Keep things fun and competitive.
